The Bell Davis Employment Services is looking for a passionate, driven, and resourceful Employment Specialist in the Washington DC area.
Our Employment Specialist who provides support for individuals with disabilities in a variety of community-based work settings, supporting the person towards independence in the work tasks and work environment, including development of natural supports, assist the person receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports.
Employment Specialists implements services and supports to address the person’s vocational goals and desired outcomes as identified in their Individual Plan of Employment (IPE). Relies on supervision and direction from the Chief Operating Officer.
In laymen's terms, this person will attend the job of the persons we support, through training and into stabilization in the role for at least 90 days, often longer. So, if a person we support works from 10pm - 6am, you would go to the job with them. Flexibility in schedule and ability to work long hours is very important for this position.

Additional requirements of the Employment Specialist position include:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required. High School degree or GED required.
Experience working with Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing individuals communicating in American Sign Language
Fluency in American Sign Language
Valid drivers’ license and automotive insurance
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
CPR/First Aid required (at or after 30 days of hire)
This position is part-time which hours varies. Opportunity to full-time position will be considered on the growth of Bell Davis Employment Services’ referrals for employment planning, job development, and employment supports.
